The museum DKM is situated right in the middle of Duisburg between main railway station and the Kantpark in a rebuilt unspectacular commercial property. It's run by the foundation DKM. The abbreviation DKM stands for the initials of the two founders Dirk Krämer and Klaus Maas.

As a contrast to the seemingly conservative facade of the museum's building are the works of art housed by the museum. It unites under one roof contemporary and older art from different regions of the world. The most diverse works ´like pictures, photographs, sculptures, statuary art and room installations await visitors.
