Duisburg is a beer city. The town has to thank a big brewery for this reputation. It's most popular beer is lovingly described as called 'KöPi'.

Duisburg is a beer city? When in 1986 a few vintners were brave enough to offer their bubbly and wines during a wine festival lasting several days, this reputation had to be rethought.

By now the Duisburger wine festival has become a firm date in the Duisburger event calendar and developed into one of the most important festivals of its kind in North Rhine-Westphalia. Every year the city centre is dominated by vintners and wine queens, by bubbly and wine as well as pretzel and Tarte Flambee for several days.
