Beecker Kirmes - from parish fair to the biggest funfair at the Lower Rhine

Do you know Fisternölleken? No? Well we love to explain it to you. It's actually Schnapps with sugar and raisins. The Fisternölleken has a tradition at the Beecker Kirmes, which takes place annually at the end of August and is firmly established in the Duisburg event calendar.
The Beecker Kirmes has its origin in a parish fair several hundred of years ago. With numerous attractions it has developed into one of the biggest funfairs at the Lower Rhine.
The fairground is situated behind the Beecker Oberhof. Due to its size the funfair takes also place at the Beecker marketplace and in neighbouring streets.

Visitors can reach the Beecker Kirmes easily due to its close proximity to the motorway A 42. But insider know that it's not only much more relaxed to travel with the reduced Kirmes-ticket of the Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft AG (DVG) but that you get fairground rides reduced.
The Kirmes Monday is usually children's day. The reduced 'family tariff' can be used then. Every year the Kirmes ends with a big and well worth seeing firework.
